Connecting to the BSG wireless on Apple macOS

The following instructions apply to using the BSG wireless service on Apple macOS computers, specifically those using 10.10 Yosemite. However, the login process and information will be similar on all OS X systems from 10.7 (Lion) onwards.

  1. Click on the WiFi status menu icon to scan for networks and select the BSG wireless network.

  2. In the authentication dialogue being asked for WPA2 enterprise credentials you have to use your BSG user name and password. Please leave the mode set to automatic.

You should now successfully connect to the BSG wireless as indicated by the WiFi status menu icon.

  3. To ensure your Mac automatically connects to the BSG wireless and prefer it over eduroam, you have to fine tune the network settings. Open System Preferences and select the Network settings.

  4. In the Network settings ensure your Wi-Fi adapter is selected in the left column. Then open the Advanced... options.

  5. Please find the BSG wireless network at the bottom of the list. Drag it to the top of the list (or at least above eduroam) to ensure the BSG network is used if both networks are available.
