Connecting to the BSG File Servers using the BSG VPN

You can securely access the BSG File Servers from most locations and networks using the BSG VPN Service. Once connected, you can access the file servers as if you were connected directly to the School network.

Troubleshooting File Access on the BSG VPN

Limitations

Please note the following limitations when connecting to the File Servers using the VPN service.

• Performance of the VPN connection, and the speed of file access or file copying will be unavoidably affected by the speed of the local network. For example, performance using a tethered 3G connection will vary greatly in comparison to the School's network.
• Access to the VPN may be affected by state interventions to national networks, for example the Great Firewall in the DRC. The ICT Team can only offer limited support when investigating VPN issues in states which operate these interventions.
