Installing and using Keka from the Orchard Software Centre
1. Download and install Keka
- Open the Orchard Software Centre from the Applications folder or Spotlight search.
- Search for Keka
Click the Install button
2. Open Keka for the first time
- Open the Applications folder.
- Click on the icon to open Keka.
- Two new windows will appear, 'General' and 'Keka'
- In the 'General' window, click the icon for 'Compression'
- Change the default format to '7z'. Change other settings as you prefer.
3. Encrypt files
- With Keka open, select the 7z icon.
- Enter a password into the 'Password' and 'Repeat' boxes.
- Drag the file, files, or folder that you wish to encrypt over to the 'Keka' window.
- A new file will appear with the original file name, appended with the 7z extension.
4. Decrypting files
- Open Keka, select the 7z icon.
- Drag the encrypted .7z file to the Keka window
- Enter the password for the encrypted file.
- The de-compressed, unencrypted files will appear in the same location as the original 7z file.
